Kirra Pinkerton
Year 5/6

Hello, I’m Kirra Pinkerton!

This year, I have been teaching Year 5/6 in Room 17, Saddington Block. This is my third year at HPS, after teaching in Port Hedland. I have previously taught in Middle Primary and have been very excited to step into Upper Primary this year!

Alongside classroom teaching, I am the Chair of our school’s Reconciliation Action Plan Committee (RAP), working closely with Mrs Graham, our Wangkatja teacher and AIEO. I also work alongside Miss Parker for Student Leadership.

My favourite subjects to teach are Writing, Humanities and Social Sciences and Design Technologies. I enjoy bringing creativity into the classroom and especially love Project-Based Learning, as it encourages students to develop independence, collaborate with peers, and engage in hands-on, meaningful tasks. A student-led approach is always at the forefront of my teaching practice. I truly love what I do, and I feel so lucky to work with my students every day. Seeing progress over the year is so rewarding and one of the main reasons I teach.

In my own time, I enjoy walking my dog, Dezi, going camping, playing Hockey and catching up with friends.
