I am a passionate Early Childhood teacher who wholeheartedly advocates for play based learning and strive to provide my students with the most engaging learning environment and experiences and feel privileged to have the responsibility of nurturing and teaching our future leaders.

I have been working with young children for over 20 years and I am in my 14thyear of teaching.  I am fascinated with child development and still learn new things every day.

I have lived in Kalgoorlie for 18 years with my husband who works in mining, and we have two children that are 8 and 10 years old. We are an active and outdoors loving family, we like travelling, camping, and discovering new places.

This year, I am teachingPre-Primary within our Early Childhood area. My teaching program incorporates many opportunities for play, hands on investigation and child lead interactions. The children’s interests and ideas are heard and valued, and I use these in planning to ensure the children are engaged and having fun while learning.

I love being out in nature and I like using natural objects in my learning activities as they are easily accessible to everyone and are a more sustainable option in terms of their environmental impact. I embrace and fully support the use of loose parts in my classroom and luckily my Op shopping hobby helps me to find lots of interesting things to include in our learning environment. I am amazed at the creativity and imagination that the children display when they explore and use these different materials in their play.

I believe Early Childhood experiences at school should be fun, engaging, hands on and play based as this will ensure that each child’s educational journey starts positively and continues to grow and support a love of lifelong learning. Play is powerful!
